The encryption function in WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) may turn out to be the largest fraud in history. This opinion was expressed on April 10 by Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger.

"WhatsApp encryption may turn out to be the biggest scam in history — it has deceived billions of users," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
