- Residential buildings in the center of Lebanon's Arab Salim destroyed by Israeli strikes
Israeli strikes on Lebanon have turned the civilian quarter of the Arab Salim settlement into ruins. Jamal Ghorabi, a correspondent for Al Mayadeen TV channel, told Izvestia about this on April 10.
The central part of the Arab Salim settlement has turned into "something like a battlefield," with the ruins of destroyed residential buildings behind the correspondent.
"These buildings were inhabited by civilians. Most of the victims of these attacks are women and children <...> Judging by what we record, we can say that this picture here summarizes the brutality of what happened in this settlement and in other towns and areas that were subjected to Israeli attacks," the correspondent said.
According to a local resident, there was a grocery store, a toy store, a convenience store, a hairdresser and a pharmacy on the destroyed square. The footage also shows the ruins of a building where a family of six died during Israeli army strikes.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on April 9 that Russia strongly condemns the attack on Lebanon. She stressed that Moscow insists on an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Lebanon and a return to political methods.
Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian said on the same day that Israeli strikes on Lebanon violated the ceasefire agreement. He called it a dangerous sign of deception and lack of commitment to potential agreements.
On April 8, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supported the introduction of a two-week ceasefire with Iran, but clarified that it did not apply to Lebanon. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, hundreds of people were killed and injured after the attack.
