The lawyer warned about criminal liability for throwing garbage out of the window

Residents of apartment buildings who throw garbage out of windows can be prosecuted if they harm other people's health. This was announced on April 10 by an associate professor of the Department of Civil Law at the O.E. Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MGUA). Evgenia Basos.

"If you throw garbage out of the window, you can be held accountable under Article 8.2 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Non—compliance with environmental protection requirements in the management of industrial and consumer waste")," the expert said in an interview with TASS.

Penalties for non-compliance with waste management regulations depend on the severity of the offense. In the case of an initial violation, citizens face a penalty of up to 3 thousand rubles, with repeated violations during the year — up to 5 thousand rubles. If the actions caused harm to people or the environment, but do not fall under the criminal article, the fine for citizens will be up to 7 thousand rubles.

Larger sanctions are provided for officials and businesses. The amounts of penalties for them can reach 50 thousand rubles and 500 thousand rubles, respectively.
