The economist named the conditions for applying for a refund of 7% of personal income tax

In 2026, Russian families with two or more minor children will be entitled to a refund of 7% of the personal income tax paid. This was announced on April 12 by Yulia Finogenova, Professor of the Department of State and Municipal Finance at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

According to the expert, the support measure will affect Russian citizens whose average per capita income last year did not exceed 1.5 times the minimum subsistence level for the able-bodied population in their region of residence. The benefit also applies to families with children under the age of 23, if they study at full-time departments of universities or colleges.

"The period for submitting an application this year is four months: from June 1 to October 1, 2026, as special deadlines have been set for 2025," Finogenova explained.

The economist stressed that the payment is not automatically assigned. To receive it, you must personally submit an application to the territorial office of the Social Fund of Russia (SFR), the IFC, or use the Gosuslugi portal.

"But in 2027, the application period will be extended to five months: from May 1 to October 1," Yulia Finogenova added.
