On April 9, American leader Donald Trump called on Tehran not to charge for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

"There are reports that Iran is charging tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz — they better not do it, and if they do, then stop immediately," he wrote on the Truth Social network.
