The PSB announced the potential of commercial space as an investment destination for individuals

Commercial projects in the space industry can become an attractive investment destination for private investors when appropriate financial instruments become available. This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the PSB Peter Fradkov at the session of the bank "Private Space: investments and growth models for a new ecosystem" within the framework of the Russian Space Forum.

"Infrastructure, cosmodromes, and heavy rocket carriers are areas where it is quite difficult to attract fast—paying resources, so the share of government spending prevails in such capital-intensive projects. Private companies in this area can be involved in cooperation chains and receive additional financing from banks under contracts, similar to how it is currently happening in the GOZ system," said Petr Fradkov.

At the same time, according to him, a number of areas of space activity already have commercial potential. We are talking, in particular, about projects in the field of navigation and small spacecraft.

"At the same time, there are commercial projects — navigation, small space, etc., and here I would put more emphasis on the fact that it is not just necessary to attract private companies — this is already happening, but it is necessary to attract private investors, individuals, by creating attractive financial instruments for them," he said.

Fradkov explained that, according to the Bank of Russia, individuals have significant amounts of funds, which are mainly placed on bank deposits. At the same time, investors are interested in diversifying investments and seeking stable returns.

In his opinion, commercial areas of development of the space industry can become a long-term investment tool for individuals.

"There is such an experience in the world — for example, perpetual bonds. Space will always develop — as long as humanity, financial systems, and any state are alive," Petr Fradkov emphasized.
