During a working trip to the Kaliningrad Region on April 9, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko congratulated local residents on Konigsberg Day.

"On this day, we remember all those who gave their lives. We will always pay tribute to our heroes," she said.

Matvienko recalled that the memorable date in 2025 was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin by his decree. On this day, the Red Army stormed Konigsberg, which was considered an impregnable fortress.
