President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has sent greetings to the participants and organizers of the first Russian Space Forum, which is taking place on April 9 at the Rossiya National Center.

"I welcome you to the first Russian Space Forum, which is the central event of the Space Week taking place throughout the country. This year, Russia and the whole world celebrate the 65th anniversary of the legendary flight of Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin. This historic start has become one of the grandiose events of the 20th century, ushering in a new era in the history of civilization," Putin said.

The President noted the exceptional role of the development of space programs for the country and the role of many specialists who initiated the exploration of space by mankind several generations ago, and also outlined the importance of maintaining a leading position in space.

"Today, the development of the rocket and space complex, strengthening its scientific, human, and technological potential are among our absolute priorities. I would like to emphasize that in order to move forward and maintain a leading position in the field of space exploration, it is extremely important to combine the efforts of the state, business, and research teams in this strategic area, and jointly solve large—scale, time—consuming tasks to improve the industry's production base and ground infrastructure," Putin stressed.
