- Construction of Khabarovsk and Primorye nuclear power plants is being synchronized
The energy development plan for the Far East includes the construction of two nuclear power plants, Khabarovsk and Primorsky. The construction of the facilities is planned to be synchronized.
Dmitry Demeshin, Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, announced this at the council of the Far Eastern Federal District in Vladivostok. The council is attended by the heads of all the subjects of the district. It is being chaired by Presidential Envoy for the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.
According to Demeshin, quoted by IA AmurMedia, the construction involves several stages, including the design and preparation of the site. The construction site has already been identified. This is the north of the Khabarovsk region next to a large lake.
The builders will work synchronously in Primorye and Khabarovsk Territory. They will work out one stage at the Primorsky NPP, and then move to the Khabarovsk Territory to work out the same stage. The construction dates are currently being discussed.
Earlier it was reported that new electric power facilities will be built in the Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories by 2042. The corresponding decree on the approval of the general scheme of the facilities was signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. The project proposed by the "System Operator" provides for the construction of the Primorsky NPP with a capacity of 2 GW and the Khabarovsk NPP with two 1.2 GW units.
The projected volume of generation starts in the Russian Federation will be about 88.5 GW. The share of nuclear power plants in the generation structure is likely to grow from the current 18.9% to 24% in 2042, solar and wind power plants — from 0.8% to 3.3%, while the share of thermal power plants will decrease from 62.7% to 57.4%.
