AvtoVAZ has reported on the next set of tests of the Lada Azimut crossover. This time, the new model passed tests as part of a reliability check and adaptation to the roads and climate of Russia, the company's press service told Izvestia on April 9.

In the laboratory and testing complex of the AVTOVAZ landfill, the crossover was tested in climate chambers that allow you to set the temperature in the range from +60 to -50 degrees. Humidity control from 25% to 95% is also provided. Here, in particular, the Azimut power unit was calibrated to start the engine in harsh winter conditions.

There is also a salt mist chamber as part of the autopolygon complex. The car is periodically placed in it as part of a cycle of road tests that simulate long-term and all-season operation in the city and on the highway. Salt solutions are both deposited on the body and sprayed under pressure on all parts of it, including the bottom and wheel arches. The camera creates an increased temperature and humidity, while the car is blown by an incoming stream of air saturated with reagent vapors. Before corrosion resistance tests, calibrated cuts are applied to all body elements.

"According to the results of the tests carried out, including road tests in the salt fords of the autopolygon, the Lada Azimut body showed a high level of corrosion resistance," AvtoVAZ said.

In addition, the car was tested in a new sprinkler chamber. It allows you to simulate all types of rain and tilt the car on a special platform to make the conditions even more harsh, challenging and realistic. According to the test results, the crossover demonstrated a high level of tightness of the body, the company emphasized.

AvtoVAZ announced on April 2 that, in preparation for official state certification, Lada Azimut crossovers had successfully passed factory validation tests for passive safety. The launch of crossover production is scheduled for the third quarter of this year, for which a large-scale modernization will take place at the plant in May.
