Liksutov spoke about new buses for the Moscow Region project
About 50 new NefAZ-5299 buses have been delivered to the capital, Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow government for Transport and Industry, said. They will soon enter suburban destinations as part of the Moscow Region project.
"On behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, we continue to actively develop a network of routes to the nearest Moscow region. To improve the quality of passenger service, new NefAZ-5299 buses will be launched in the near future. A total of 233 cars of this model will arrive in the parks of Mosgortrans for commuter trips this year," Liksutov said.
About 2 thousand such buses are already operating in the fleets of Mosgortrans. They have a modern climate system and adaptive interior lighting, as well as a folding ramp and a place for passengers with limited mobility. The passenger capacity of the bus is up to 109 people.
The Moscow Region project was launched last year, when 25 routes were introduced to the nearest Moscow region in the north-western and western directions. This was made possible by an agreement between the governments of Moscow and the Moscow Region. As a result, Moscow transport standards have been introduced on these routes, including convenient bus travel intervals and timetables, modern rolling stock and professional drivers. More than 50 more destinations are planned to be launched by the end of this year.
By 2028, at least 30% of the existing suburban routes are planned to be included in the Moscow transport system. This will make trips more comfortable, as well as give an additional impetus to the development of transport infrastructure in the Moscow region, including the installation of modern bus shelters, the arrangement of dedicated lanes, the creation of new and reconstruction of existing transport hubs, the Moscow Department of Transport noted.
