The scammers started using a new scheme of deception with the spread of phishing links under the pretext of recording voice messages in support of their heroes. This was announced on April 9 by the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"Scammers continue to use hacked accounts in messengers to spread phishing links. <...> On behalf of friends, they write to users asking them to record a voice message in support of their heroes. Naturally, in order to do this, you need to follow the link and enter the data in the registration form," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is noted that clicking on such links can lead to theft of credentials, account hijacking, or be the beginning of a multi-component attack on the user. Such fraudulent attempts are aimed at trust and emotional reaction, the Interior Ministry said.

On April 8, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that more than 100,000 Russian teenagers were involved in schemes for renting out accounts in the Telegram messenger, which were then used by fraudulent call centers. Sergey Kalinin, First Deputy head of the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, said that the damage from such offenses is not only individual, but also widespread. He stressed that no special skills are required to commit offenses now, and minors rent out their accounts en masse.
