The Iranian Navy has ordered ships to use alternative routes when passing through the Strait of Hormuz against the background of the current situation in the region. This was announced on April 9 by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

It is specified that the decision is related to the risk of the presence of sea mines in the main zone of the strait. In this regard, new traffic patterns are being introduced until further notice.

"In order to comply with the principles of maritime safety <...> they (the ships. — Ed.) should use alternative routes," the message on the Telegram channel says.

According to the recommendations, it is proposed to enter the strait from the Sea of Oman through the area of Lark Island, followed by movement to the Persian Gulf. The exit, in turn, should pass through the southern part of Lark Island with a direction towards the Sea of Oman.

On the night of April 8, American leader Donald Trump announced that he had agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for another two weeks. The condition for this was the complete unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz. The United States also received a 10-point proposal from Iran to resolve the conflict. At the same time, the head of the White House on that day declared his readiness to resume hostilities against Iran if the United States could not conclude an agreement satisfactory to Washington.

On the same day, Reuters reported that the Iranian authorities may partially open the Strait of Hormuz next Thursday or Friday, before starting negotiations with representatives of the United States in Islamabad. It was clarified that in the event of the resumption of navigation, all vessels will necessarily need to coordinate with the Iranian military.
