Monument to Yuri Gagarin in Moscow to be washed on the eve of Cosmonautics Day
Specialists of the municipal economy complex will wash the monument to cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on April 8. This was announced by Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Landscaping Peter Biryukov on Wednesday, April 8.
According to him, the work is taking place as part of the spring cleaning of the city: by the end of April, it is planned to put in order more than 2 thousand objects, including bridges, tunnels, crossings, embankments, fountains and monuments. On this day, the monument to Gagarin on the square of the same name will be cleaned, writes Moscow 24.
Biryukov noted that a team of public utilities, a 50-meter-high car tower and high-pressure installations will be involved in the work. First, experts will check the condition of the monument, then rinse it with water, treat it with a special solution and, if necessary, repeat the procedure until the contamination is completely removed, the Moscow City News agency reports.
He added that all work is carried out under the supervision of restorers and specialists from the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage.
