Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth announced at a briefing on April 8 that Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, had been seriously wounded.

According to him, Khamenei is allegedly "wounded and disfigured," and the Iranian industry has actually been destroyed. The US Secretary of War pointed out that the US military remains fully prepared for combat, despite the truce.

At the same time, on April 4, it was noted that reports about Khamenei's alleged trip to Russia for medical treatment did not correspond to reality. It was clarified that his injuries did not interfere with his work. Prior to that, on April 3, an Iranian diplomatic source assured that Khamenei was indeed wounded, but he was alive.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bagai said on April 1 that Mojtaba Khamenei's health is fine, and he may appear in public soon. Bagai added that the vertical of power of the Islamic republic is stable enough not to depend on specific people.
