Hundreds of families of indigenous residents of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District) underwent comprehensive health checks as part of on-site medical examinations organized by Gazprom Neft. According to the company's press service, specialists from Russia's leading clinics visited several locations in the region, from the villages of Yar-Sale and Novy Port to reindeer herders' camps in the area of the Vostochno—Messoyakhskoye field.

Medical examinations started on the eve of Reindeer Herder's Day. The mobile medical teams included cardiologists, pulmonologists, endocrinologists, rheumatologists, and pediatricians with experience working in the North. During the winter holidays, modern equipment was delivered to remote villages: a mobile X-ray laboratory, a mammograph, portable ultrasound machines and spirometers.

"Since the launch of the Arctic medical check-up program, over a thousand Yamal residents have become participants. Timely check-up helped some of them identify risk factors in time, saved their health and even their lives. Therefore, we intend to continue and expand the practice of medical examinations for the indigenous people of the Far North," said Viktor Sorokin, Head of Gazprom Neft's Industrial Safety Department.

The program has been implemented for the fourth year in a row. The results of the examinations are being sent to regional polyclinics, where local doctors will continue to monitor the health status of tundra workers.

"We strive to ensure that modern medicine is accessible to every resident. In the Year of Health in Yamal, we, together with Gazprom Neft, continue to work to ensure that high—quality diagnostics come directly to the tundra, to nomadic families," said Irina Novoselova, First Deputy Governor of Yamal.

According to her, the practice of on-site examinations has proven its effectiveness in detecting diseases at an early stage and timely referral for treatment.
