Liksutov spoke about the growth of the fleet of electric vehicles in Moscow
Moscow has consolidated its status as one of the leaders in the introduction of innovative modes of transport. Since 2015, the fleet of electric vehicles in the capital has increased by more than 150 times and today reaches 40.4 thousand units, which corresponds to global trends, said Maxim Liksutov, Moscow's Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry.
"Today, there is a global trend of switching to eco-friendly modes of transport. According to forecasts of the International Energy Agency, by 2030, more than 40% of the global automotive market will be occupied by electric vehicles. Such transport helps to significantly reduce the negative impact on the environment. Moscow is one of the world leaders in the use of innovations in the transport sector. The fleet of electric vehicles in the capital is growing rapidly, and the city supports this trend by systematically expanding its charging infrastructure. The development of the EHS network creates all the necessary conditions for further increasing the number of personal electric vehicles," said Maxim Liksutov.
According to the analytical agency Autostat, more than 140,000 electric cars and plug-in hybrids are registered in Russia, of which over 65,000 are fully electric cars. A significant part of this park is concentrated in Moscow.
The Moscow government is implementing a program to support electric transport, aimed at creating comfortable conditions for its use, the metropolitan Department of Transport noted. Four specialized charging hubs and about 10.7 thousand electric charging stations are already operating in the city. More than 375 of them are located on the street and road network as part of the Moscow Energy urban project.
There are also economic benefits for owners of electric vehicles. In particular, they are completely exempt from paying transport tax and can park free of charge on all streets of the capital. In addition, the city is attracting private investors to install charging complexes in urban areas and is working on a new ergonomic design of the stations.
