Experts named the conditions for proper running-in of summer tires

Running in new tires is no less important than running in a new car. Summer tires usually take less time to run in compared to winter tires, and it is usually enough to drive 200-300 km. Specialists of the Cordiant holding told Izvestia about this on April 8.

"During this period, the main recommendation is not to make sudden maneuvers, observe the speed limit and take into account the likelihood of an increase in braking distance. Especially when driving on wet roads, you need to be more careful, since the technological film that remains on the tires after production can reduce the traction properties," the experts advised.

It is advisable to run-in on asphalt in warm weather, and it must also be remembered that a car with new tires may feel different from handling, which you also need to get used to.

Without waiting for the end of the run-in period, that is, after about 100 km of running, it is recommended to make sure that the internal tire pressure corresponds to the set values and check the tightening of the wheel fasteners, the experts noted.

They also pointed out that after the end of the run—in, it is recommended to check the balancing of the wheels, since the unevenness of the masses inside the new tires may change after their installation and start of operation, which in turn manifests itself in the form of vibration when driving, especially at high speeds.

"Thus, tire testing is an opportunity for both yourself and the car to get used to a new set of tires. And only after that, you can continue operating normally and return to your usual driving style," the company added.
