Fico announced the lifting of Slovakia's temporary ban on diesel exports
Slovakia will lift a temporary ban on diesel exports from April 10, but will maintain bans on exports of other fuels amid the conflict in the Middle East, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on April 8.
"We have excluded from the government decree a clause prohibiting the refinery from exporting petroleum products," Pravda quoted the head of the republic as saying.
In addition, the Prime Minister also noted that the emergency regime in the oil industry remains in place.
At the same time, Fico noted that the only oil refinery operating in the country, Slovnaft— returned the oil lent to the state. In February, when Slovakia declared an emergency in the oil industry, Slovnaft received about 250 thousand tons of crude oil from state reserves, the authors of the material specify.
Two months ago, Hungary and Slovakia stopped supplying diesel fuel to Ukraine, this was confirmed on February 19 by the representative of the European Commission, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen. The Republics decided to stop supplies due to the lack of oil supply through the Druzhba oil pipeline.
Fico said that Ukraine is harming Europe's energy security. According to him, instead of taking decisive measures against Ukraine, the European Union is tolerating new Ukrainian attacks on energy infrastructure, which in the current crisis is energy suicide.
