Kanye West's former security guard wants to sue him for about $1 million.
Jonathan Monroe, the former bodyguard of American rapper Kanye West (also known as Ye), went to court demanding that the musician recover about $1 million in compensation for unpaid wages and other damages. This was reported on April 8 by the TMZ portal with reference to court materials.
According to Monroe, who worked for the artist in 2021, he repeatedly tried to get the funds due to him, but in response he heard only excuses. The lawsuit documents mention a case where West asked a security guard to fill up his Lamborghini, but ignored the request to pay for gas and simply left.
"Monroe is seeking damages totaling about $850,000, including $7,725 for unpaid overtime, $37,620 for lost wages, $500,000 for lost income, $100,000 for moral damages <...> and another $100,000 in punitive damages," the publication says..
On April 7, British authorities banned Kanye West from entering the country to participate in the Wireless Festival amid outrage over his anti-Semitic remarks. He was supposed to come to the country for the first time in 11 years. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer noted that the rapper "should never have been invited to perform" on Wireless.
At the same time, it became known that the Wireless festival in London was canceled after West was banned from entering Britain. The organizers clarified that during the preparation for the festival, West's candidacy was agreed upon by "numerous interested parties" and at that time no concerns were expressed.
