- The Russians were told the key stages of preparing their cottages for the spring season
It is important to start preparing cottages for the new season immediately after the snow falls, as delayed repairs can lead to additional costs. Evgeny Fedorov, the training manager of the Petrovich contact center, told Izvestia about this on April 12.
"We need to start with an inspection of the roof: make sure that the coating is intact, replace damaged sheets of slate, corrugated board or tiles, if necessary, and eliminate leaks. Gutters and pipes should be cleaned of debris to ensure proper drainage of water," he explains.
Special attention should be paid to the foundation and walls, where cracks, traces of dampness and damage to the finish may appear. In addition, it is recommended to adjust the windows and doors, lubricate the hinges and, if necessary, replace the seals. Inside the house, it is worth checking the ventilation and treating the surfaces from mold, as high humidity accelerates the wear of materials.
Fkdorov stressed that the verification of engineering systems is equally important. After winter, the power supply should be turned on gradually, monitoring the operation of sockets and lighting. The water supply must be inspected for damage, and the system must be filled with water in stages to avoid leaks.
The expert also recommended carrying out preventive work: treating wood with antiseptics, metal with anti—corrosion agents, and clearing the territory of dry grass and debris to reduce the risk of fire. Before the start of the season, the house must be ventilated and warmed up, especially the basements and basement rooms.
"Excessive humidity is one of the key causes of accelerated wear of materials, so its elimination is a mandatory stage of spring work," the expert emphasized.
Engineering communications require no less attention. If the house has been de-energized for the winter, then the circuit breakers must be started gradually, making sure that the sockets and lights are working properly. It is also important to inspect the water supply for ruptures, check the operation of the taps for smooth running. Most likely, the system was drained for the winter. In this case, it is recommended to fill it with water in stages, checking the connections for leaks.
In addition, the specialist added, it is worth testing pumps for wells and wells, if necessary, to clean the filters. With the onset of heat, the irrigation system needs to be put in order: rinse the hoses, check the drippers and replace the damaged elements.
"Some of the work, such as cleaning, basic repairs, and material handling, can be done on your own. However, if serious structural damage or malfunctions of engineering systems are detected, it is better to involve specialists in order to avoid additional risks," concluded Fedorov.
In an interview with Izvestia on February 23, Georgy Tsereteli, head of new product development at Ippon, named three main criteria to be guided by when choosing an electric generator for a home. First of all, you need to determine which devices you plan to connect and how much total power they require. The second important aspect is battery life. Tsereteli noted that the needs may vary significantly depending on the usage scenario.
