The study showed the level of AI adoption in hiring in Russia
Russian employers are cautiously introducing artificial intelligence (AI) into their hiring processes, but interest in such technologies continues to grow. This is evidenced by the results of a study of the Defin platform and the AIMIKA service, which were reviewed on April 11 by Izvestia.
According to the survey, only 12% of employers actively use AI at several stages of hiring. Another 23% use point-to-point technologies, 18% are at the testing stage, and 29% plan to implement them in 2026. At the same time, 18% of companies do not use neural networks and are not going to do so.
Among companies that have implemented technologies, AI is most often used for the initial selection of resumes, 68% of respondents answered. Also, 41% use it to compose and check test assignments, 32% — to communicate with candidates via chatbots. 14% of companies conduct video interviews with AI assistants, while only 5% trust technology to make the final hiring decision.
Estimates of effectiveness remain ambiguous. A third of employers (33%) noted an acceleration of the recruitment process, 25% — a reduction in routine workload. However, 28% pointed to algorithm errors that cause companies to lose suitable candidates.
Employers cite higher quality of manual selection (56%), inaccuracy of algorithms (48%), as well as legal and ethical issues (34%) as the main risks of implementing AI. Almost a third of companies (29%) fear that excessive automation may scare off applicants.
Despite this, interest in technology is growing: more than 72% of companies have announced plans to expand the use of AI in recruiting. At the same time, 31% intend to use it in mass recruitment, and 19% — point-by-point for individual vacancies.
Veronika Akhmetova, a psychologist and member of the Association for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, reported on March 11 that working with artificial intelligence can cause depression and burnout among employees if interaction with the system is not built correctly. According to her, this is primarily due to the loss of the meaning of work.
