The Frunzensky District Court of Vladivostok has scheduled the continuation of the criminal case against the director of the Kuril Universal Complex company and the son of the fisherman Oleg Kan, Alexander Kan, for April 13. This was announced on April 8 by Elena Oleneva, head of the joint press service of the courts of Primorsky Krai.

"At a court hearing on April 7, Alexander Kahn's defense requested that the next court hearing be postponed to April 13 in order to review the materials of the criminal case," she told TASS.

It is clarified that the defense had previously completed the submission of written evidence. The case against Kang's son is being considered in absentia, since he is outside of Russia, in accordance with the norms of criminal procedure legislation.

In 2025, the court sentenced Oleg Kan in absentia to 24 years in a high-security penal colony, imposed a fine of 5 million rubles, banned him from holding positions in the fishing industry and ordered the confiscation of over 4 billion rubles and seized real estate.

In November of the same year, the court did not terminate Kang's criminal case on smuggling, despite statements by the businessman's lawyers about his death. In March, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation approved a decision to recover 358.7 billion rubles, which were left by the "crab king" who left Russia. In April 2024, the Primorsky Regional Court sentenced Kang to 17 years in a high-security penal colony for organizing the murder of businessman Valery Pydenko in Vladivostok in 2010.
