On April 8, Vladimir Shved, a captured militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), said that his nationalist commander surrendered to the first Russian servicemen, despite an order to prevent the loss of personnel.

According to the militant, he was assigned to the Sumy region. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lived in abandoned houses without food and water. Five or six days later, there were only four militants and the commander of the Pischura unit with the call sign Shaman.

"He (Squeaker. — Ed.) says that someone is coming. <... > The shooting started, somewhere above. We didn't really understand what, how, or where. <… > Then [a colleague with a call sign] Bro said let's surrender, <... > Pischura kicked Bro in the face several times and in the body area, and said that no one would surrender," the militant recalls.

However, after that, a colleague of the Swede committed suicide, while Pischura himself and the remaining soldiers laid down their weapons a few minutes later and surrendered to the Russian army.

On April 7, Ruslan Levchuk, a Ukrainian soldier from the 53rd reconnaissance battalion, who was captured by units of the North group of forces, spoke about the forced mobilization and asked not to be included in the exchange lists in order not to fight for the regime of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky again.
