Iran has been able to extract certain advantages from the conflict, despite the losses it has suffered. This opinion was expressed on April 8 by political scientist and orientalist Nizar Farsakh.

"I would call it a Pyrrhic victory. The very fact that they (Iranians. — Ed.) survived and were able to hold out for so long. <...> Of course, Iran won," he said in an interview with Izvestia.

According to the expert, one of the factors was the increase in oil prices, which, he believes, may allow Tehran to compensate for the economic damage. He also pointed to the demonstration of the effectiveness of Iranian weapons, which, in his opinion, may affect the interest of other countries in their purchase.

"Their (Iranian. — Ed.) the weapon systems proved to be better than the American ones. American planes were shot down, while Iranian missiles were not intercepted," the orientalist emphasized.

Farsah added that Iran is promoting an initiative to participate in the management of the Strait of Hormuz, which can also be seen as a result of the current situation.

In addition, the expert expressed the opinion that the conflict could be used by the head of the White House, Donald Trump, as a distraction from other topics, such as the Epstein files.

"I think the key problem is for him (Trump. — Ed.) — these are Epstein's files, and the war conveniently diverted attention from them. So, to be honest, he probably would have chosen another distraction. The war just turned out to be the most convenient," the political scientist shared.

Farsakh also pointed out Israel's interest in continuing the confrontation. According to him, the Israeli leadership's policy is aimed at strengthening its position in the region with the support of the United States.

The Associated Press (AP) reported on the same day that Iran and Oman will be able to charge fees for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz during the two-week truce. It was clarified that Tehran intends to send the collected funds for reconstruction.

On April 7, Trump announced that he had agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for another two weeks and said that Washington had received a 10-point proposal from Tehran to resolve the conflict. The States are ready to continue working on its basis.

It was later reported that Israel had joined the ceasefire. However, Lebanon, where the Israeli operation against the Hezbollah movement is being conducted, does not fall under these conditions. The United States also agreed to maintain Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz and recognized the Islamic Republic's right to enrich uranium.

On April 5, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation, announced a likely increase in oil prices to $150 per barrel. According to him, the current situation on the global market may lead to a significant increase in the cost of energy resources in the short term.
