Israel supports the US decision to suspend strikes on Iran

Israel has supported a two-week ceasefire with Iran, but it will not extend to Lebanon. This was announced on April 8 at the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"Israel supports the decision of the President [of the United States Donald] Trump announced the suspension of strikes on Iran for two weeks, subject to the immediate opening of the straits by Iran and the cessation of all attacks on the United States. <...> The two—week truce does not apply to Lebanon," a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

In addition, the Prime Minister's office reported that the United States assured Israel of its commitment to achieving common goals for Washington, Tel Aviv and its allies in the upcoming negotiations.

The American leader said earlier in the day that he had agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for two weeks. He explained that the condition for this was the complete unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz. The head of the White House said that the United States had received a 10-point proposal from Iran to resolve the conflict. Washington is ready to continue working on its basis.

The Associated Press reported at the same time that Iran and Oman will be able to charge fees for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz during the two-week truce. According to the newspaper, Tehran intends to send the collected funds for restoration.
