The Msta-S gunners destroyed the control point and the launch point of the APU drones

Crews of Msta-S self-propelled howitzers of the 44th Army Corps of the North group of forces destroyed camouflaged strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as well as control points for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and manpower of Ukrainian formations in the area of a special military operation in the Sumy region. This was announced on April 8 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

According to the agency, the intelligence units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the operators of the unmanned systems forces (UAVs) jointly identified the coordinates of the control point and the launch point of the drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After receiving the target designation, the crew of the Msta-S self-propelled howitzer guided and fired accurate shots, destroying both enemy targets.

"My job is to get a lead. <...> The main thing is to aim accurately, not to be nervous, not to worry and, of course, to destroy the target. <...> So basically we are working to destroy UAV sites, we are helping our infantry with manpower. <...> Today, let's say, we have worked from one position there on two targets, then we move to others. Well, so that it's unlikely that they'll figure us out," said a senior gunner with the call sign Zhuk.

It is noted that the firing is conducted at a distance of several tens of kilometers from the enemy. Shooting can be conducted both from closed firing positions and direct fire without prior preparation. During combat missions, Msta-S gunners use high-explosive fragmentation and precision-guided munitions. This allows maximum damage to fortifications, buried concrete fortifications, as well as armored vehicles and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The well-coordinated work of the scouts, BPS troops and gunners makes it possible to quickly respond to any changes in the situation. The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that the elimination of enemy drone control points and their launch positions deprived the enemy of the opportunity to conduct reconnaissance and launch air strikes in this sector of the front.

According to the agency, the units of the "North" continue to expand the security zone in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. The Russian military continues to advance, protecting civilians and pushing the enemy away from the border.

"I am responsible for delivering the crew and taking them away. The car is reliable, based on the T-72 tank, there are no problems with it. We need to make sure that there is oil, there is coolant, everything is in order, the air is pumped, because a lot depends on the air too.
