On April 7, the Second Western District Military Court reviewed the earlier sentence of Sergei Mileyko, former deputy director of the Russian Guard, increasing the sentence from 7 to 8.5 years in prison. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

"The verdict of the Moscow Garrison Military Court should be changed <...> and Mileyko should be sentenced to imprisonment for a term of eight years and six months to be served in a general regime colony," the agency's judicial board reports.

It is clarified that both the prosecution and the second person involved in the case, Igor Shalnov, the former head of Spetsshveysnab LLC, did not agree with the verdict. Mileyko did not appeal his sentence.

The Moscow Garrison Military Court began considering the criminal case of Mileyko and Shalnov on fraud on an especially large scale in July 2024. It was noted that Shalnov continued to provide uniforms to the participants of his military and other law enforcement agencies during the investigation, which lasted approximately five years.

Prior to that, in July 2021, a military court found Mileyko guilty in a case of apartment fraud in Balashikha. During the meeting, the prosecutor asked to deprive the defendant of the rank of Lieutenant General, awards and to fine him 800 thousand rubles.
