RPL expressed its condolences over Lucescu's death.
On April 7, the press service of the Russian Premier League (RPL) expressed condolences to the family and friends over the death of former Zenit football club and Romanian national team head coach Mircea Lucescu.
"The Russian Premier League expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mircea Lucescu," the Telegram channel said.
Mircea Lucescu's death became known earlier that day. This information was also confirmed by agent Arkady Zaporozhanu, who represented the interests of the coach. It is known that less than two weeks ago, despite health problems, Lucescu led the Romanian national team in the World Cup match against Turkey.
The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) press service announced Lucescu's emergency hospitalization on March 29. It was clarified that the coach lost consciousness during a technical meeting before training and the subsequent match against the Slovak national team.
Lucescu later suffered a heart attack on April 3. According to the Digi Sport TV channel, the specialist underwent angioplasty, a procedure in which a stent is inserted into a narrowed artery to expand the lumen.
