FC Dynamo does not plan to nominate its candidate to the RFU Executive Committee

The management of the Dynamo Moscow football club (FC) informed Izvestia on April 7 that at the moment it is not going to nominate its representative for the vacant position of a member of the executive committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU).

Previously, Dmitry Gafin, the former chairman of the Board of directors of the Blue and white team, who left this post in early October 2025, was part of this governing structure of Russian football. Alexander Ivlev, who replaced him in December, said in a February interview with Izvestia that he had no plans to nominate his candidacy to the executive committee. At the same time, he did not comment on the possibility of other Dynamo executives being nominated there.

According to Pavel Pivovarov, the general director of the club, Dynamo as a whole, as of April, are not going to move their candidate to the RFU executive committee. By-elections to the RFU Executive Committee are scheduled to take place at the end of May as part of the RFU conference. The deadline for nominating candidates is at least 50 days before the conference.

"At the moment, there are no such plans (to nominate a candidate. — Ed.) no," Pivovarov told Izvestia.

From February 2021 to December 2025, the seat on the RFU executive committee was invariably held by the chairman of the board of directors of Dynamo Moscow — first by Yuri Solovyov (he headed the club from July 2019 to January 2024), then by Dmitry Gafin, who replaced him (he was a member of the board of directors of Dynamo in 2019-2025, from January 2024 of the year as its chairman).

Denis Solovyov, Vice President of the Russian Football Federation, spoke about the chances of Russian football teams being admitted in 2026, the impact on their lives of the new tax on bookmakers and the crisis of professional clubs in the Moscow region.

On December 12 last year, it became known that the RFU would receive compensation in the amount of €3.8 million from UEFA for the Russian team's non-participation in European competitions. It was noted that the amount is influenced by the country's position in the UEFA ranking and the income of the club that earned the most in the proportions of 70 and 30%, respectively.
