The statement by US President Donald Trump about the possible "death of civilization" should be considered as a tool of psychological pressure and an element of political strategy. On April 7, political scientist Dmitry Bridzhe, an expert, told Izvestia about this, assessing the impact of such rhetoric on the international situation.

According to the expert, such statements represent a form of harsh signal, which can be perceived as a hint of decisions already made. In the context of the escalating situation around the Middle East, such formulations are associated with deadlines and possible escalation.

"The goal here, of course, is twofold. Psychologically suppress the enemy, and, for example, show your own audience a certain image of a leader who alone is able to close the era of chaos and impose a new denouement on the world. Such statements have a devastating effect on the international agenda, they instantly raise the price of risk," the political scientist noted.

According to Denis Denisov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, the goals of such statements are related to an attempt to put pressure on Iran and reach an agreement on US terms, as well as to demonstrate readiness to act without taking into account the position of allies and international institutions.

According to the expert, such rhetoric undermines the existing system of international relations and increases instability.

"Once again, the inefficiency and inability of key international structures to ensure compliance with international law and the security of the countries included in these associations is demonstrated," he explained.

The expert added that the powers of the US president regarding the use of nuclear weapons are clearly fixed and do not require coordination with Congress or the Senate. At the same time, there is an established procedure for transmitting a decision through the Minister of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Strategic Command.

At the same time, as the expert noted, questions remain about the role of individual participants in this chain and the possibility of blocking such a decision.

On April 7, Trump allowed the death of "an entire civilization" with his promised strikes on the territory of Iran. Trump repeated that "smarter and less radical minds" are now in power in Iran, and expressed hope that "something revolutionary and wonderful" would happen during the day.

On that day, The New York Times (NYT) reported that Iran, with the mediation of Pakistan, had submitted a 10-point peace agreement to the United States. According to him, Tehran will no longer be attacked, at the same time, Israeli attacks on the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon will cease. The document also provides for the lifting of all sanctions. In return, Iran must lift the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

The day before, Trump said that the conflict with Iran could end very quickly if Tehran fulfills the necessary conditions. He also called Tuesday, April 7, the last deadline for ending the war. The US president added that the main goal is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
