The human body can experience severe stress during sudden changes in atmospheric pressure. This was announced by Andrey Tyazhelnikov, MD, chief freelance specialist in primary health care for the adult population of Moscow, chief physician of the city polyclinic No. 220, on Tuesday, April 7.

"The sudden pressure drops characteristic of such a phenomenon as a "baric saw" create a serious strain on the body. These fluctuations can worsen well-being, especially in people with chronic diseases and the elderly. Pressure changes affect blood oxygen levels and can cause shortness of breath, headaches, and exacerbation of chronic diseases," he told the Moscow City News agency.

The specialist emphasized that patients with cardiovascular diseases have an increased risk of developing arrhythmias, stroke and myocardial infarction during this period, and blood pressure spikes are possible, which lead to headaches, dizziness and darkening of the eyes, including loss of consciousness.

"People with chronic bronchitis and asthma may experience shortness of breath and suffocation. Given the coming spring, people with pollen allergies should also be careful — due to changes in atmospheric pressure, they may experience a marked deterioration in their well-being and an exacerbation of symptoms," the doctor added.

According to the doctor, to alleviate the condition during this period, stress should be minimized, sleep and wake patterns should be observed, and there should also be more light food — vegetables, fruits, fish and lean meat.

Earlier in the day, the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation reported that cloudy weather with clarifications, light rain, awaits residents of the capital region on April 7, writes Moscow 24. The atmospheric pressure will be 734 mmHg.

Earlier, on April 5, Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, said that next week residents of the capital will see noticeable fluctuations in atmospheric pressure and a gradual cooling. Life.Ru . He specified that a "baric saw" is expected — a drop in pressure by Tuesday, April 7, to 735 mmHg and an increase by the weekend to 760 mmHg, RIAMO clarifies.
