The availability of free IVF has doubled in Moscow since 2019.

The availability of IVF under the compulsory medical insurance policy in Moscow has more than doubled in six years. Almost 12,000 such operations are planned for 2026, said Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

"Today, Muscovites who face difficulties in planning pregnancy can receive comprehensive medical care. Her main advantage is a personal approach," the Vice mayor emphasized.

For each patient, the doctor becomes a personal guide during the annual treatment, said Rakova. "A woman receives full support — from the first visit to a medical institution to the successful onset of pregnancy. If problems remain, the patient is immediately given the opportunity to resort to assisted reproductive procedures, such as IVF," the deputy mayor explained. Thanks to the systematic work, the availability of the MHI policy procedure in Moscow has more than doubled since 2019: from 5,000 to more than 10,000, Rakova said.

Couples with infertility, women with genetic pathologies, and those without a permanent partner can take advantage of the IVF procedure. To do this, you need to visit an obstetrician-gynecologist at a women's clinic or a women's health center. The doctor will determine the indications for IVF. After the examinations and the collection of documents, a decision is made on the choice of a medical facility for the procedure. IVF is provided free of charge by 25 Moscow clinics, the list can be found on the website of the Moscow City Department of Health.

The new standard of infertility care began to fully operate in Moscow in 2025 on the basis of the updated women's health centers. It includes a full range of services, from consultations and examinations to support during pregnancy in the structure of a single complex (women's health center — maternity hospital or perinatal center — gynecological department in a hospital).
