In Russia, during the week from March 30 to April 5, wholesale and retail prices for frozen fish continued to rise, especially for pollock. The main reason was the strong export demand from China. The relevant information follows from the materials of the FSUE "Natsrybresurs" industry monitoring.

In the Far East, export demand from China remained the main driver of rising prices for cod, pollock, herring and flounder. Prices for other types of frozen fish have hardly changed. The prices for the delivery of fish from Vladivostok to Moscow by rail are 25-27 rubles per kg.

In the North-Western region, the shortage of supply from fishing against the background of favorable foreign market conditions contributes to an increase in cod prices. At the same time, the high level of unrealized inventory is pushing down prices for haddock. Prices for other popular frozen fish products have remained largely unchanged.

In the central regions, prices for pollock and Pacific herring strengthened under the influence of rising wholesale prices in the fishing regions. At the same time, the current level of supply and demand ensures stable price dynamics for other types of frozen fish.

Retail prices for frozen undivided fish increased by 0.23% from March 24 to March 30. Compared to the beginning of the year, they have increased by 3.69%.

In January–March 2026, the volume of unloading of fish products in foreign ports increased by 2.4% compared to the same period last year, including due to an increase in supplies of pollock by 7.3%, whiting by 70.8% and herring by 7.8%. The volume of unloading in Russian ports increased by 4.3%, due to an increase in pollock shipments by 11.3%, cod by 9.4% and mackerel by 5.4 times.

On April 1, it became known that Russian retailers and manufacturers are expanding the range of semi-finished fish products, and consumers are increasing purchases. The market volume in the country has exceeded 30 billion rubles, the growth rate in this segment remains double-digit, and the margin is more than 20%.

In early February, it was reported that in 2025, pollock supplies to the Russian market reached a record, amounting to 271 thousand tons, which is 7% more than in 2024. The Association of Pollock Miners (ADM) noted that since 2013, the volume of supplies has increased almost 4.5 times, and this is due not only to sanctions, but also to the development of domestic demand.
