The Orion spacecraft is heading towards Earth after circling the Moon as part of the Artemis II mission. This was reported on the website of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

"The crew of Artemis II has completed the period of observations of the Moon and is now beginning its return journey home," the publication says.

It is noted that the ship has already entered a solar eclipse. The astronauts use the time that the crew will spend behind the moon to study the solar corona.

The Artemis II mission took off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 1. For the first time in half a century, humanity has sent astronauts to the moon again. Earlier, during the preparation of the launch, a malfunction in the communication system was detected, which could disrupt the flight.

On April 4, NASA announced that the four astronauts of the mission had completed half the journey from Earth to the Moon. It was noted that Orion had covered a distance of more than 230 thousand km from Earth.
