US Vice President Jay Dee Vance may join direct talks with Tehran if existing contacts through intermediaries lead to this. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on April 6, citing sources.

"Vance is on standby, ready to enter into sensitive negotiations with Iran if informal talks lead to a face—to-face meeting with Iranian officials," the article says.

It is noted that the negotiations are currently being led by Stephen Witkoff, special envoy of US President Donald Trump, and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of the American leader.

On April 6, Trump said that the conflict with Iran could end very quickly if Tehran fulfills the necessary conditions. He also called Tuesday, April 7, the last deadline for ending the war. The US president added that the main goal is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said on March 30 that Trump intends to reach a deal with Iran by April 6. According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, contacts with Iran continue, including through third countries.
