"We are moving towards plunging the world into global depression and hunger. And this is not alarmism or hysteria, this is mathematics. 30% of the world's fertilizers, 20% of energy. Yes, it's the great Depression," he said in his show, posted on his YouTube channel.

According to the journalist, if the situation leads to a shortage of fertilizers in sub-Saharan Africa, it could turn into a serious crisis for about 1.5 billion people. In such circumstances, part of the population of African countries will be forced to seek a way out in migration, including heading to the United States, given the geographical proximity across the Atlantic.

According to the expert, the world is now faced with a situation where importers are experiencing an acute shortage of agrochemicals supplies due to the impossibility of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The market may miss about a third of fertilizer supplies.
