- The former president of WADA, who launched doping investigations against Russia, has died.
Former president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and former vice-president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Sir Craig Reedie has died at the age of 85. This was announced on the IOC website on April 6.
Reedy headed WADA from 2013 to 2019. It was during his leadership that the doping scandals related to Russian sports occurred, including investigations of anti-doping tests in the Russian Federation.
Craig Reedie began his sporting career in the 1960s as a professional badminton player, representing Great Britain at international tournaments. Later, he moved to administrative work, becoming president of the International Badminton Federation (IBF).
In 1994, he became a member of the IOC, and from 2012 to 2016 he served as Vice-president of the committee. In 2013, Reedie was elected the third president of WADA.
