Restoration of Optika Pavilion No. 64, formerly Leningrad and the North—West of the RSFSR, has begun at VDNH. The facades of the cultural heritage site of federal significance will once again be decorated with 24 unique sculptures dismantled in the 1980s, said Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina.

The sculptures will be reproduced from archival photographs. Monumental paintings and stucco decorations will be put in order in the halls of the pavilion. "Inside, special attention will be paid to the high relief "Festive Leningrad" found earlier. The composition was discovered behind a false wall at the preparatory stage," Sergunina said.

The high relief depicts a solemn procession against the background of the monument to Vladimir Lenin at the Finlyandsky railway station. A group of sculptors — Grigory Kosov, Vasily Stamov, Alexander Ovsyannikov and Alexey Timchenko - worked on it.

Also in the Leningrad Hall, the paintings on the vault will be cleaned of late layers of paint and four chandeliers with details made of cobalt glass will be restored. The chandeliers that have not been preserved in other rooms will be recreated according to archival drawings and photographic materials.

The monumental panels "Meeting of the Guards at the Narva Gate in July 1945", "Cars heading to the collective farm fields", "Stalin Plant during the creation of the hydro turbine", "Smolny in October 1917" will be restored in the introductory hall.

The pavilion was built for the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition in 1939. The expositions of the Soviet republics were located in eight halls. In the post-war period, the pavilion was reconstructed. Since 1959, the expositions have been devoted to the successes of the country's educational system, and since 1967 to the socio-economic transformations in agriculture in the Soviet Union. The pavilion received its current name in 1982.
