- The Khakhalev sisters could have been involved in the withdrawal of lands in the Kuban from state ownership
The decisions of the judges of the Krasnodar Territory could contribute to the withdrawal of significant tracts of agricultural land from state ownership. This was reported to Izvestia on April 6 by sources familiar with the case.
According to their data, we are talking about more than 13 thousand hectares of land worth at least 1.8 billion rubles. Judicial acts adopted over the years have allowed private entities to secure the right to land. Among the defendants in this story are former deputy chairman of the Krasnodar Regional Court Elena Khakhaleva and her sister, judge of the Arbitration Court of the region Natalia Khakhaleva.
The source noted that it was through court decisions that the legal basis for the subsequent transfer of land into commercial circulation was created. After the status change, the plots could be used for construction and other commercial projects, which significantly increased their cost.
Earlier on April 6, the Supreme Court of Russia sent materials to the Prosecutor General's Office for an anti—corruption audit of judges of the Krasnodar Territory, including Natalia Khakhaleva. It was noted that the identified assets that do not correspond to the declared income became the basis for its implementation.
On May 17, 2022, a criminal case was opened against Elena Khakhaleva under articles on fraud and forgery. The judge was suspected of embezzling 1 million rubles. On June 10, she was arrested in absentia and put on the international wanted list, and a preventive measure was chosen for her in the form of two months of arrest from the moment of her actual detention.
Khakhaleva became known in the media as the "golden judge". In 2017, it became known about her daughter's wedding for $ 2 million, at which the stars of Russian show business performed. It later became clear that Khakhaleva could not hold the position of judge, as her diploma turned out to be fake. It was not possible to find any documents confirming the woman's studies at the Abkhazian university. The Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation removed Khakhaleva from the presidium in the fall of 2018, and in the summer of 2019 she was suspended from trials. In July 2020, the Higher Qualification Board of Judges (HCCC) of Russia prematurely stripped Khakhaleva of her powers. She left Russia on December 8, 2021.
