Taxi drivers will be monitored through ERA-GLONASS
In Russia, it is planned to start detecting taxi drivers' fatigue, deterioration of their well-being or abnormal behavior using the ERA-GLONASS state information system. The agreement on joint work on the development of services for the taxi industry was signed by the system operator and the Public Council for Taxi Development. This is stated in the message of the organization, which was received by Izvestia on April 6.
Alexey Raikevich, CEO of GLONASS JSC, explained that the cooperation will be aimed at testing taxi drivers' work and rest monitoring systems and introducing advanced driving style monitoring systems. It is assumed that this should ensure the safety of passenger transportation, reduce the number of accidents involving taxis and increase the transparency of the industry.
The parties also agreed to prepare joint proposals to improve legislation in the field of taxi and navigation activities. It is planned to develop analytical and statistical reports on the state of the domestic taxi market and the technical capabilities of navigation equipment.
Earlier, on March 27, it was reported that in Russia, the introduction of mandatory equipment of vehicles imported by individuals with SOS buttons with ERA-GLONASS connection was postponed to a later date.
