Putin congratulates Margarita Simonyan on her birthday
Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory telegram to Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya international media group and RT TV channel. This was announced on April 6 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"We would like to join everyone who is congratulating Margarita Simonyan on her birthday today," Peskov said at a briefing.
A spokesman for the Russian president noted that Putin had sent a congratulatory telegram to the birthday girl. Peskov also wished Simonyan good health and all the best in life.
The governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratiev, announced last December that Simonyan had been awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Krasnodar." He also noted that Simonyan was born in the city and it was here that she began her professional career in journalism.
