Ice on the Tumnin River in the Khabarovsk Territory was weakened during the flood

In the Khabarovsk Territory, the ice on the Tumnin River had to be loosened so that there would be no consequences during the passage of the flood. The work was carried out by employees of the interdepartmental group: rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and military engineers of the Eastern District. Before that, they examined the river and checked where congestion could occur due to the ice cover.

According to Andrey Prokopenko, deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region, quoted by IA AmurMedia, the river is monitored every year, as there are areas with a risk of congestion during ice drift. Timely identification of dangerous places helps to prevent emergencies.

So, the ice was loosened in three places. Blasting operations were carried out in two particularly dangerous areas, at 340 and 344 km. With the help of preventive measures, it is possible to minimize the risk of emergencies and keep residents safe.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations and the government of the region are monitoring the situation around the clock with the opening of rivers and spring flooding. There is constant interaction with the Far Eastern UGMS, EDDS of municipal districts and heads of settlements.

The agency recalls that rescuers began sawing ice on the Khor River. The weakening of the ice field is necessary to protect the Lazo area from possible flooding.

Earlier it was reported that hundreds of houses and roads remain flooded due to a powerful cyclone in Dagestan. There is still no electricity in some localities, and there are problems with drinking water. Due to the fact that the heavy rains have ended, the flood has begun to gradually recede, but the situation is still critical: the cyclone leaves destruction in its wake. Rescuers are pumping water out of basements, clearing the premises of debris and trees.
