The expert recalled the rules of action in case of accidents with scooters

With the start of the scooter and bicycle season in Moscow, not only the demand for rental vehicles is growing, but also the number of accidents involving them. Elena Parygina, Head of the Department of Loss Settlement Methodology at Rosgosstrakh, told Izvestia on April 8 about how to act correctly in case of a collision and in which cases compensation can be expected.

"A scooter has long ceased to be just a seasonal entertainment, it is a source of increased danger. If a collision has occurred, it is important to treat it immediately as a full-fledged incident: record the circumstances, the data of the participants, injuries and damage to property. This is what then largely determines whether it will be possible to calmly resolve the issue and receive compensation," she said.

As the expert explained, the procedure depends on the location of the incident. If a collision occurred on the road or sidewalk, it is necessary to call the traffic police to record the circumstances, participants and damage. If you get injured, it is important to contact a medical institution and get all the documents done. If personal items are damaged, you will need to confirm the damage with receipts.

What is the reason for the twofold increase in demand for such devices?

In cases where an incident occurred in a park or other enclosed area, the incident should be recorded through the facility administration. At the same time, the key principle remains: the more detailed the details are on site, the easier it is to receive compensation.

Parygina noted that the possibility of insurance payment depends on the cause of the accident. If the driver of the car is guilty, the injured scooter can count on compensation for CTP. If the scooter user is found guilty, he is not entitled to compensation, and damage to the car can be recovered from him. If the driver has a hard hat, the insurance company will first compensate for the losses, and then recover them from the culprit.

If a person is injured without the participation of other vehicles, payments are possible under an accident insurance policy after completion of treatment and provision of medical documents.

According to the expert, the maximum insurance payment for injuries sustained on an electric scooter was 200 thousand rubles. At the same time, the largest compensation for CTP for hitting a scooter reached 205 thousand rubles, and for hard hat for damage to a car — 412 thousand rubles.

Deptrans of Moscow together with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation are working on amendments to the legislation, according to which heavy electric scooters and bicycles will be prohibited from moving on sidewalks. In addition, as noted on April 2, the metropolitan authorities are going to transfer information about traffic violations by couriers on electric scooters and electric bicycles to courier services and the State Traffic Inspectorate.
