Sobyanin appreciated the arrangement of sports facilities in the yards

Since 2011, the number of Moscow residents actively involved in sports has increased significantly, said the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in his channel in the MAX. He stressed that an "open-air gym" had appeared in virtually every courtyard.

"Physical education has become a way of life for millions of Muscovites," Sobyanin wrote.

According to the mayor, the city is constantly working to make sports accessible to everyone, which is in line with the goals of the national project "Sport of Russia". During this time, stadiums, sports complexes and tens of thousands of sports grounds have been built, reconstructed and renovated.

In 2025 alone, more than 800 sports grounds were equipped in the capital, including about 50 football fields and over 10 streetball courts. Also, about 140 table tennis courts, more than 100 multifunctional areas for various sports and over 10 skate parks were renovated and built in the city during the year.

For example, in a Green park on the border of Novogireevo and Ivanovskoye districts, instead of the old playground, a football field with artificial turf and a running track was built, table tennis tables and exercise equipment were installed nearby. In Kurkin, Dubrava Park has renovated playgrounds for volleyball and basketball with bleachers, table tennis and a workout area. In Nagatin-Sadovniki on Kashirsky Proezd, a lawn tennis court and an artificial ice rink were renovated, locker rooms were renovated and a recreation area with a canopy was organized.

Earlier, Sobyanin announced the approval of the main tasks for the development of publicly accessible physical education and sports in the capital for 2026. Among the priorities are the holding of more than 200 major sporting events, the construction and reconstruction of dozens of infrastructure facilities, the construction of new playgrounds and recreation areas by the water.
