Residents of Dagestan, which was affected by the flood, said that as a result of the breakthrough of the earthen rampart at the Gedzhukhskoye reservoir, some buildings were completely flooded. On April 6, they informed Izvestia correspondent Murad Magomedov about the consequences of the incident.

"I lost my house, I lost my clothes, I lost everything. <… > I didn't expect it to be like this. My house is empty, there's nothing left inside. <... > The Ministry of Emergency Situations told us: "Leave the house faster." The only things I could get out were documents, a child, and clothes. I've never seen such a wave in my life, this is the first time this has happened here," one of the residents shared.

Local resident Bagaudin Alimuratov noted that in addition to houses, the entrance to the local state farm and the hospital were also flooded. He added that the operational services had warned in advance about the risk of flooding, but people did not expect such a scale of consequences: some even had houses collapsed.

Another man stressed that several villages in the region were completely flooded. At the same time, the residents themselves tried to take their belongings away from the scene of the incident, as well as livestock.

As a result of heavy rainfall on April 5, the Gedzhukhsky reservoir overflowed in Dagestan, which caused an earthen rampart to be breached. It was noted that a pregnant girl and a child died after they were swept away by the current. In addition, an apartment building in Makhachkala collapsed.
