Russia may take measures against the UK amid threats to Russian vessels. This was announced on April 6 by Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin.

"Does London have the strength and recklessness to do this? Probably, yes. <...> The question is the price that London will have to pay for the attempt. It may turn out to be very high," Kelin said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The day before, Kelin had already warned Britain against attempts at aggression against Russian ships.

Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev said on March 25 that the Russian Navy ensures the safety of navigation, in particular ships carrying cargo in the interests of Russia. He clarified that port captains can request the escort of Russian ships by mobile firing groups.
