- Filippo compared the case of the gas pipeline in Serbia to the sabotage of the Nord Streams
The situation with explosives found near the gas pipeline connecting Serbia and Hungary is reminiscent of the terrorist attacks on the Russian export gas pipelines Nord Stream and Nord Stream – 2. This was announced on April 5 by the leader of the right-wing French party "Patriots" Florian Philippot.
"Has a new NATO—Ukraine sabotage operation been discovered against a critically important energy infrastructure?! <...> It looks like Nord Stream,— he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
On the same day, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic informed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that explosives and detonators had been found near the gas pipeline connecting the two countries.
The Serbian Ministry of Defense announced on the same day that explosives had been found in the immediate vicinity of a pipeline for transporting Russian gas from Serbia to Hungary.
Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that unknown persons in Serbia tried to blow up the infrastructure of the Turkish Stream. This gas pipeline guarantees the supply of Russian gas to Hungary. Hungary rejects another attack on the country's sovereignty, interpreting the attack on the security of its energy supply as a blow to Budapest's independence, the minister stressed.
