On April 5, militiamen from the regions of Iran where the search for the pilot of the downed F-15E fighter of the US Air Force was conducted told Izvestia the details of the ambush on search teams' helicopters.

"Then I immediately turned on the gas and drove home. I already had my clothes ready, and I took water with me," one of the fighters said.

According to them, the aircraft operated at extremely low altitude. The operation involved two helicopters carrying US special forces soldiers. Correspondent Nasser Ashkeri also showed the area where there was a clash between American forces and Iranian militias.

The New York Times newspaper reported earlier in the day that a search and rescue team had evacuated to Kuwait the second pilot of the American F-15E fighter jet shot down by Iran on Friday.

On April 3, US President Donald Trump announced that the crash of an American F-15 fighter jet over Iran would not affect the negotiations between Washington and Tehran. The politician noted that such incidents are part of the conduct of hostilities.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
