Investigators investigating the criminal case of the genocide of the population of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR) during the Great Patriotic War have identified 101 previously unknown death camps created by the Nazi invaders on the territory of Belarus. This was announced on April 5 by Sergey Shikunets, deputy head of the investigative group of the Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus in this criminal case.

"There are also 101 previously unknown death camps, which were created by the Nazi invaders on Belarusian soil. Prior to the investigation, it was believed that 477 death camps operated during the war. The data obtained during the investigation suggests that there were 578 such places of forced detention," Shikunets told RIA Novosti.

The deputy head of the investigative group said that during the investigation, data on punitive operations conducted on the territory of Belarus during the war years were clarified.

According to him, 47 previously unknown major operations were identified, as a result of which the total number increased from 140 to at least 187, while thousands of people were killed during these actions.

On December 6 last year, the Department of the FSB of Russia for the DPR announced the declassification of archival documents on the war crimes of fascist collaborators in the territory of Krasnoarmeysk during the Great Patriotic War. It was clarified that the materials contain information about crimes against civilians and the circumstances of their commission.
